Futura feels “round” to me so I took that face in hopes that it would sort of mirror the spinning discs. Like the first design, this one also has text that stands completely alone so the argument for sans-serif carries over here.
I've always loved those quick reference cards where you spin a few disks into a particular alignment to get a custom result. We have a resistor color chart like that floating around our lab right now. I had originally thought of making something more intricate, with aligning slits and coincident angles, but about halfway through I ditched all the intricate code and just went simple.
